We began the research by asking , who, why, where, when and what. By doing this exercise, we could have widen the
range of possibilities on different factors. We have realized that the shoe is
not the only reason of slipping but also the environment around us. For
example, flooring, walking habits and mentality.
Moreover,
slipperiness affect indoor floor conditions. For example, when we use public
toilets on rainy days, the floor gets watery by our wet shoe soles. Thus, tile
and marble flooring can be added under possible floor materials.
If we give a reason in a scientific term, shoes lose
friction on surfaces with fast-moving molecules such as water, clay and jelly. Moving molecules means shapes do
change, hence, not able to hold objects in contact.
Another term is the type of shoe. This applies mostly to
women as they put on high heels
that are not as stable as flat shoes. They even fall down on non-rainy days
with high heels. When
it comes to rainy days, it becomes worse. This is because of less area of soles
in contact with floor.
